I think I should make t-shirts.

The text "Legalise Nonbinary - Gender Recognition Now!" with the url enby.org.uk stylized similarly to the "Legalize Gay - Repeal Prop 8 Now!" shirts that were popular for a few years in California following the 2008 election.

@ryanc I mean, it's already legal to identify however you want. Recognition by the government is another thing. I don't know why you seem to want it to be made "official".
Reminds me of my friend's trans girlfriend who once said to me that it should be illegal to call them "he" because "that's how I'm legally recognised" and comparing it to calling a doctor "Dr" (never mind that it's not illegal to call a doctor by a different title lmao). At least, IIRC that's what she said.

@Hyolobrika I do not identify as nonbinary. It is just what I am, and what I always have been.

The refusal to provide legal recognition is upsetting for many reasons, including that there is no good reason not to. It costs very little, and updating systems can be done piecemeal over a period of time.

It's just gross to be told my birth certificate is invalid.

I have government departments claiming I'm legally a sex that does not match any identity documents that I have.

It's infuriating to me, it upsets other nonbinary people, and that is enough. We don't need to be able to articulate reasons to want something that most people take for granted.

@Hyolobrika As to it being illegal to use the wrong pronouns for someone deliberately, it is hate speech and should be legally classified as such, regardless of legal gender.

Some jurisdictions make hate speech illegal, some do not.
