Healthcare in America is the worst combination of private fees and government meddling.

@threalist

Medical Malpractice, resultant death, & maiming are, IMO, some of the most accurate descriptions of today's Medical Industrial Complex that's in bed with, literally, Big Pharma & politicians Coast to Coast.

@threalist As I've heard stated: it's the absolute worst aspects of capitalism combined with the absolute worst aspects of socialism.

@threalist yeah there's a reason for that. rockefeller being one of the major ones.

Canada is worse

@threalist i tell this story too often but american healthcare used to be cheap, some homeopaths wanted to start making voluntary metaregulators, and rockefeller came by and zipped it all up as a government monopoly instead. plus had everyone thrown out that he wasn't invested in.

lot of work also by intellectual yet idiot 'doctors' who just wanted line go up, going after all the mechanisms that was making it hard for them to overcharge people (see: lodge practice, the lost prevalence of health co-ops)

@threalist hmm, interesting. Pay 845+845(co#payment, hidden part of income) per month to the public health system in Germony. Equaling 20k per year. Wonder where my missing 13k€ go….

@threalist That's what you get for trusting crapitalism.
Not like here in the socialist paradise of Argentina where health is free.
Regret your choices yet, Amerisharts?

t. lives in shithole country

"t. lives in shithole country"

United Kingdom : Hold my beer

$20k is a lot.

Is that based on income?

@lethn @threalist No wayu. Doesn't the UK have this thing called "NHS"? I keep hearing it mentioned over and over. It's gotta be something impressive. 👀

You know when I go on about generational brainwashing in the UK? Yeah :P

@threalist

Anyone who has seen a health care itemized bill payable through an insurance company versus one where the patient is the direct payor can notice the scam... It's infuriating.

> That's what you get for trusting crapitalism

That it isn't free market is precisely the problem.

It is all kinds of twisted and deformed by government meddling, whether directly, or indirectly via insurance.

It is incomprehensible, not transparent, and increasingly controlled by only the biggest players who walk hand in hand with Washington.

socialist paradise of Argentina

¡AFUERA!

'Mixed economy' or 'third-way' is what they call it now that smiley-face western democracies do it. When Mussolini invented "the merger of state and corporate power", he called it "fascism".

@threalist that is the current max payment. After 5775€ brutto per month, that is what you pay. As I said, we have this fake ass system, where you pay 845 and your employer also pays that. People are dumb enough not to realize, the employer part ist actually part of your real brutto and employers calculate likes this(obviously).

@threalist the same is true for unemployment and elderly care. If you have 6k€ per month income, your real income is something between 7-8k and after taxes and social shit you are left with about 3.7k. And then you pay a 19% sales tax on nearly everything, 70% of fuel prices are taxes, and your government takes about 3/4 of your work away from you.

And one thing about the social security stuff: normally those are forced insurances, but most of it goes now to migrants and so on.

@nicholas @threalist That's a point no one likes when I bring it up, i.e., imagine fascism was implemented by AOC cat ladies instead of German veterans from WWI...
