Voters 'in disbelief' at NC GOP candidate’s 'concentrated effort to strip' people of votes
@Notgonnastop It was written by SCOTUS decision to throw out the Voting Protection Act, a bit.
They also rewrote the state constitution to strip the Democrats of all power after the GOP lost all statewide offices except one, and control of the legislature.
The one GOP statewide holder is now in charge of elections.
@threalist Yes, there are. They are known as citizens.
@Notgonnastop Also, the GOP in Minnesota decided to illegally elect their own speaker of the house after losing control there, and there is sneaky shit in Michigan. It's not just NC.
@Notgonnastop Of course he is.
If he were Republican, they give him complete control.
> Some 60,000 of those votes, he claims, came from voters who did not provide driver's license information or the last four digits of their Social Security numbers
If the rules are there, should they be followedm
> Around 5500 contested votes are absentee ballots from voters overseas registered to vote in four Democrat-leaning counties
Seems like something that we should be careful with if we want to protect our Sacred Democracy?
@threalist So, a fucking loser makes up some claims and you present them as true?
And that's how baseless conspiracy theories are born. Do you want to know where the "illegals are voting" meme came from? When a Republican candidate lost an election in Orange County California back in the 1990's and GOP synchophants kept repeating it. His district has shifted from R to D over the decade, but "It WaS IlLEGalS".
A lie is a lie is a lie is a lie.
Repeat that and heal yourself.
If they aren't true, wouldn't a review of the votes prove that?

@threalist Per credible sources, not a Trump political operative named Pressler, the GOP is trying to eliminate ranked choice voting, and came up with bullcrap as an excuse.
"Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, also testified before the committee, and argued the change isn't needed.
"Non-citizens are prohibited from voting in Maine. The lie of non-citizen voting, either that it is something that is allowed or something that's prevalent, has persisted for years, but it is just that - a lie," Bellows said on Monday.
"Current state law already says a person "must be a citizen of the United States" in order to be eligible to vote."
