@NoDoxGregBrady @stoner713 the problem is that this has not been possible since at least before WW2; all the cultural energy was with progressivism, which first won with the civil war by picking off an easy target. But non-interventionalism was still strong through WW1.

This is an ongoing, never ending struggle and is at the heart of the demographic age. In the ideological age all the pieces on the board could coordinate around a set of shared assumptions, but the ideological age is dead (or, almost dead).
