Finding an excuse not to do things.
@Invictus more success come with more responsibilities.
Also, fear of letting people down who depend on you.
Success means stepping into the unknown and testing yourself. Maintaining means stability and comfort.

Good point
But let's talk about "Success"
One version of success is what you perceive to be high status. It's that promotion that looks good on your business card, but doesn't really align with what makes you tick.
That's a valid reason to "fear" getting stuck in that place that doesn't resonate. It doesn't appeal, but you know it gives you status or power or wealth.
Then there's the other kind. The kind where you know what you are aiming toward, and this represents a new door opening for you on that path, full of the unfamiliar and new challenges, but where you want to be.
No reason you shouldn't feel some fear of those things, but it's the good kind, where you buckle up, and do your best, knowing that you'll regret never having tried more than trying and failing, but at least moving forward.
