I saw a news article that was saying USAID didn't really account for a lot of money.

The budget for USAID in 2024 was 72 billion dollars. That's more revenue than all but 174 companies on the fortune 500, so more revenue than 323 companies on the fortune 500. That might not be a lot of money for the US government, but it's a lot of money for most anything else!

@sj_zero USAID falls under the category of "It's not that much money, so what is the point of cutting it? It won't make a real difference!" But if you were to cut something that accounts for more spending, such as Medicare or Social Security, we would hear that "It's too important for us to cut!"

So we will get nowhere on our spending problems if nothing is permitted to be touched if we accept these conclusions.
