Looking at the emulation wiki, it seems like 86xBox and PCem are becoming to Windows 9x, 2000, and XP what DOSBox is MS-DOS.
I know you can do some XP-era programs through Wine without too much hassle, but these early era 86x emulators might be a better solutions, especially if a Windows 95/98/2000 game you like doesn't have a feature-rich source port, like the many, many Id ports or OpenRCT2.

That glowie app for reverse engineering programs has been a massive benefit for reverse engineering efforts. Great seeing so many open source ports nobody ever expected.

A lot of the new ports were because of Ghidra, a reverse engineering tool released by the NSA:
