Not Everything is a Culture War Moment
Or at least it shouldn't be. I will be the first one to say, trans have no place in competitive sports that are based in strength.
Fencing is not about strength. And I stopped paying attention when no one could point out the advantage males have over females in fencing. There is none!
From facebook comments:
"I fenced when I was in college 40 years ago and men and women competed against each other in tournaments all the time. When my 12-year-old nephew fence competitively just 10 years ago boys and girls fenced against each other in tournaments competitively all the time."
"Fencing is not about strength or even about endurance. Fencing isn't boxing, wrestling or track and field or even arm wrestling. I don't get what the big deal is all of the sudden. Not everything is a culture War." -anonymous
The woman who refused to compete in her fencing match is just grandstanding and full of shit. Same as all the Me Too and pink hat people. This is no different. There are fucktards on both the Left AND the Right.

@roxygellar Women fencing in a woman's competition should not fence men. That simple. You don't think that they are differences between men and women that fence, that's fine. You're wrong of course, prepubescent boys and girls aside. However, if it's a woman's sporting event, men shouldn't be in it. This isn't about trying to decide if there is a competitive edge. This is about segregating men and women in a specific sport.

Do you think women should compete with men in chess?
Currently it is segregated. So is pool..

@threalist @roxygellar I don't feel that it's okay for women to compete in men's sports or men to compete in women's sports.
Not all chess is segregated. There are tournaments where they play against each other. However, if it's a women's chess tournament, only women should be allowed to play.
Same with pool. There are tournaments where they are mixed and others that are segregated. If segregated, maintain the segregation.
There is no need to decide if there is an advantage or not. If segregated, be segregated. It's not a philosophy test.
