energy distribution is bananas, because it relies so heavily on things 99.9% of people have no clue about, but is absolutely critical to keep things running.

Meanwhile, people clap like trained seals for new projects that are going to hasten that collapse.

@sj_zero when you have a system that is very reliable, it's easy for people to say "we can make modifications to this"

Realistically, this is just proof that managerialism is a dead concept.

For managerialism to work, you need managers that are smart or wise enough not to listen to the wrong people. But we've had successive managerialist that have made bad decision after bad decision.

@sickburnbro I recall the massive cascading failure in the northeast US and southern Canada in 2003. 50 million lost power: https://www.energy.gov/oe/august-2003-blackout

@totalslothdeath yeah, and the grids have not gotten any simpler

@sickburnbro
Why is the European grid interconnected with multiple "single points of total failure"?

@sickburnbro serves them right for those faggots not using 60hz

@sickburnbro Look, electricity isn't real. It's a couple of wizards casting cheep spells. When the lights flicker it's because one of em dropped a beer and fucked up a spell.

@stoner713 so what you are saying is there is a class upgrade above master electrician, and it's grandmaster electrician - and those are the ones casting the spells to keep the lights on?

Sounds reasonable.

@sickburnbro Yes, but because the lightning/electrical spells are so simple, there are failures do to beer fetching and bong rips. This is evident in the 'weak' points of the electrical grid. Half drunk wizards aren't really willing to walk too far, so...

@stoner713 those are some pretty high level lightening spells though if they are moving gigawatts at a time.

Don't wanna piss those guys off

@sickburnbro High level to the regular Joe, sure. But for them it's cake.
