Just got this on a Telegram post with the new 'Online Safety Act'.
The UK government brought this in to protect children from porn and already they are using it to block political posts and videos of people protesting migrant hotels in the UK.
If you are in America you need to stop this same legislation under the guise of protecting children because it's just political censorship in disguise.

@coel Always has been.....
๐ Since they "don't store the selfie" they can never prove it was faked but, ah... just because 'Telegram' doesn't store your selfie...
This parallels the 'Tower of Babel' legend. The people start to become too powerful, so the powers that be suppress communication.
sadly we knew that this was the original intention. these people want to abduct abuse and kill children, why would they want to protect them
I don't know what everyone's so worried about, there is absolutely no chance that your identity would ever get out. All of this is going to be stored under the best security there is, because no company would ever want their customer base getting out there
For no reason at all I better hit control v

There are a lot of variations in the Babel story, but it seems to be centered around the Sumerian area... along with the spread of cuneiform writing among the population.
It gets worse...

Look up the cypherpunks movement in the early 90s (I was there, but I'm not saying who (but that's where I first encountered Assange, though never met in person)... some of what was being done was illegal in the US at the time...even distributing source code.

You missed the point of the post, they only passed this law and already using it to block political posts. They're using it to block videos of protests outside of migrant hotels and posts on X/Twitter.
@coel > If you are in America you need to stop this same legislation
And how would you suggest we convince our bought an paid for legislature to do that?

@puddintaim My post was about the UK and just a warning that your political enemies will use these laws to censor you when theyโre back in power.

@coel fair enough! Minds won't let me pull the comment. They're gonna put us in camps.
Always starts this way. "Think of the children!!" If they thought of children safety, they'd do something about the grooming gangs. But they don't, which tells me all I need to know about another group of pedos.
Yeah they removed that ad, I'd still love to see an explanation on why it was there on a government site in the first place but here in the UK they will just cover it up...
They're gearing them up and getting them ready. Hopefully our folks are ready for it. Intelligent people with guns will beat mentally retarded niggers with guns every time.

@coel its not about protecting children, it's about censorship
@coel and the "age verification" is actually an _identification_ of the user
Well, Putin also started 10-15 y ago "fighting porn" in the Web ๐คญ๐คญ๐คญ๐คญ
China is better, no any hypocritical bullshit

In the US such laws would be un-Constitutional given our 1st Amendment. The Government can't censor speech.
Unfortunately, we already have similar acts under the guise of porn bans and the right supports it wholeheartedly because they saw porn ban and stopped thinking further.
And Trump was agreeing with Starmer while on the state visit so you can bet this is coming to America soon.
Honestly, at this point I'm thinking our best move may just be shutting the damned internet down and making people go outside.
Coming very soon everywhere, unless we manage to stand against it. The Tea app meltdown kind of shows how stupid online ID verification is. VPNs are going to become much more popular!
They've already been doing that in The US since January. They made a law in Florida, where I live, that makes you confirm your age to go to an adult website. I'm not sure how it works if they ask for ID or what because, of course, I bypassed that bullshit. I mean, I've never been on an adult site.
In Afghanistan children are absolutely safe though. Hope in "europe" will be the same - safety of the childhood.
I've heard people getting blocked from 4chan and other posts on X/Twitter but for me it was just Telegram posts.
I'm shocked at how little freedom there is in the Uk. Verifications like that can also be used to prove you looked at content that is illegal in the Uk and bring charges against you.
I see videos constantly of police raiding homes over memes and people getting years in prison for them, while Muslim pedophiles and rapists are getting light sentences or even probation at best.
This is by design. They are doing with the Uk what they want to bring to America. I wish you godspeed in fighting it. If you don't turn the tables there, it will come here.
Uk is the test case for California, and California is the test case for the rest of the US.

Are we supposed to ignore the fact the age verification background image is a semen sample at low magnification?
