@truthbait for the sake of sounding ignorant: Is not acquiescence/relative indifference a concession of moral high ground? Also, even if they didn’t actively/blatantly/openly support it…? “Asking for a friend”; as well as out of genuine curiosity, or in the interest of a (prayerfully) civil discussion.
@truthbait , By black violence: Are we referring to state sanctioned black violence? Black on black violence? Black African on Black African violence? State sanctioned violence against Blacks? “Inquiring minds…”
@truthbait While you’re in a “yes-man” esque mood, seemingly at least: Is it true that reparations would have been paid out to African Americans (in some way/shape/form/fashion) long ago, were it not for the movement losing tremendous momentum w/ the advent of that fateful TUE morn; in 2001?
@truthbait sounds like a huge load of malarkey; though, I’ll bite. For $42T ($42 trillion), Alex: What is a non-sequitur? Or, gals equivalency? While we’re on the subject of all men being created equal: Would Love to know your opinion on the fact that the U.S. frequently/openly targets anyone attempting to unite Africa. That; &/or the purported fact that most of the slave auctions during USA slavery were owned/operated by Jewish Americans, dearest Brethren.
You have a good heart. But you are many things, and not just America can benefit from your wisdom.
In the end... we all must go to the center of the starfield and see what is there, for us. Often we do not know. In fact, that is the norm.
I am very American, if Confederates are Americans. But I revert to essence.
@amerika @truthbait who dafuq died & made you king?! Pray, tell?
@truthbait I see what you did there. I asked about auction blocks in our beloved USA; & you bring up the tired trope of Europeans playing divide/conquer in Africa. Quaint…
@truthbait please don’t call me sparky, Rabbi. All’s I’m saying is that I have no problem readily acknowledging that America & the rest of the world screwed over Africa to the point that they still believe war/famine/enslavement are legitimate solutions. My query that begs an answer: How many African Americans are still, to this day incarcerated on nonviolent drug charges; per capita, versus, say…white Americans in the same category? “I’ll wait.”
@truthbait genuinely curious: Have you not heard of “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander; or just declined to read it as I did, after the abysmally stark introduction? Spoiler alert: She couldn’t even convince her (surprise, surprise) white Hubby of the validity of her arguments therein the book.
@truthbait seems like a bit of nihilism disguised as inspirational positivity… Also, in regards to the white slaves: Did they ever experience anything remotely similar to buckbreaking? “Asking for a friend.”
@truthbait , two points for the “desirable slavery” line. I’ll Google the origins/etymology of the word in question after you describe buckbreaking to me. Because it’s my understanding that white slaves were essentially glorified indentured servants. They were still seen as deserving of some basic respect/dignity. Not viewed as subhuman garbage w/ strength.
I think everyone misses the point: slavery is a highly inefficient method of labor.
That alone dooms it to the shitcan of history.
@truthbait I’m not sure if you’re referring to the word racism, or slavery; for the sake of sounding ignorant. Perhaps you’re referring to Buckbreaking; since your description pales in comparison. Tl;dr– The strongest, biggest (likely most productive) slave in the field would occasionally be whimsically beaten; raped; & then drawn/quartered, in front of the entire plantation (including his Family), just because his “master” got cussed out by the missus that morn for raping too many Negro women.
@darriusunity Look up the etymology of the word "slave." Let me know what you discover. HINT: It has NOTHING to do with black people. Funny how that works.
@truthbait , I’ll see what I can do. Prayerfully, I can do a better job at that than you did w/ the buck-breaking descriptor…
"slavery is a highly inefficient method of labor."
Now it is, but through most of history it was very efficient. Even Native Americans owned slaves. Black ones. Literally every culture did it to others and each other.
I need to define terms here. Efficiency = high output and low socialized cost.
Nothing the Amerinds did was of that nature, excepting of course the ruling castes of Inca, Aztec, and Maya.
Slavery is an easy answer IMHO. It never helped anyone with anything, sort of like Apple products (heh heh).
