Apparently media is trying to turn this thing into another example of horrible abuse by Dem government that's being covered up by the mainstream press. And the reason Republicans with all the power to look into this (and the 2020 election that they still claim was stolen) won't is because of some deeper conspiracy or corruption. Never because there's nothing actually there and doing so would expose their bullshit.

Isn't there something there simply based on the premise of spying on Senators?

@threalist

except that's apparently not what happened. skim the wiki. otherwise have hearings etc.

do you recognize the political value in trying to create a Dems, deep state and m5m are evil narrative? imo is built on that. imo it prevents us from seeing that people have different valid worldviews but everybody is selfish and the best thing we can do is lessen the concentration of power/money but still have an accountable govt to rein in private groups that damage the public interest.

I don't really understand what isn't there in the most favorable interpretation:

> The process "was not a wiretap," said Cheryl Bader, a Fordham University clinical associate law professor. "What was sought was basically a record of phone numbers dialed from a specific phone number."

So the "debunk" isn't that it didn't happen, but that "it isn't a big deal"

OK but they did?

@threalist

"The memo, published by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), outlines how the FBI tracked tolling data-call durations, times, and locations-of eight U.S. Senators and one House member between January 4 and January 7, 2021. No audio recordings were made, but the surveillance has drawn fierce criticism from both parties."

This summary is from an obviously biased article:

If this is what happened, I don't see it as unreasonable in connection to the investigation.
