A former coworker, 10 to 15 years older than me, once told me that he thought Doctor Strangelove effectively saved his life. He saw it as a turning point in popular opinion against the war meaning he was never drafted and sent to foreign land to die.
I know there are modern movies that show "the horror of war", but they still seem to portray it as necessary.
Are there modern movies that full on mock the Industrial War machine?
@chromeratt Mars Attacks?
@chromeratt The Pentagon Wars. Deal of the Century. Stripes.

Wag the dog.
@chromeratt The movie War Machine was based on the Hastings book The Operators. It's not a full on mocking, but it exposes the asshattery prevalent in the general staff.
Someone else mentioned Pentagon Wars, which is also a good one.
@chromeratt
Full Metal Jacket, maybe?
@threalist @radix023 yeah these two came to mind immediately. But again, just like everything on TV, from Tour of Duty and China Beach to Seal Team they all say "war sucks, but WE gotta do it."
No WE don't.
@ghost792 I feel like Stripes was mocking the institution that implemented the war. Same with Spies Like Us.
Not familiar with the others, will look into them
@chromeratt The whole thing with Stripes was the testing of the combat Winnebago.
@chromeratt The Kingdom
@chromeratt From the Strangelove era, The Mouse That Roared.
