Wow, this was a dark one. I had never seen this before, just the Watership Down's adaptation animation. This is some really dark themed stuff. Not only the first specifically not child themed animation by MGM, but also considered one of the most disturbing animated films for it's imagery of animal cruelty via lab testing, but also animal behavior.
@Killer_Mule ya plague dogs is dark
@Killer_Mule
Yup... the book and the film, both. If you want one to match it, from 1986... if you never saw it, I recommend it.
But it is a downer.

I'm so glad my parents said no.
@EatKnitSleep2 Grave of the Firelfies (1988) is another. Beautifully done but a heartbreaking tragedy. It's a Ghibli animation. @SiRrogueKnight
@Killer_Mule @EatKnitSleep2
I actually just watched that for the first time last year... 👍
@SiRrogueKnight My son is telling me Threads (1984) is right up there, the worst, gnarliest depiction of nuclear conflict. It was a propaganda scare film. Obvioulsy we don't really control who pushes the buttons, but the fear it created makes people easier to control as far as the psychological angle. My son swears this really affects anyone who watches it, negatively. So please use caution. Nuclear holocaust is one of my favorite sci-fi genres. But like Mad Max. LOL
@Killer_Mule @EatKnitSleep2
I checked... never saw it. Tell your son thanks... added to my Movie Roulette list... 🍻
@SiRrogueKnight @Killer_Mule @EatKnitSleep2 If your Movie Roulette list includes only apocalyptic end-of-the-world downers, you've probably already seen On the Beach and A Boy and his Dog. If not, click on the link below.

Yeah... I read Neville's book, and then saw the 1959 movie of On the Beach. They made another one in 2000. Saw A Boy and His Dog for the first time just a few years ago... 🍻
@SirDudeNamedBenOnymous @Killer_Mule @EatKnitSleep2
In an age of lists, you know some website made a list about it. This is usually how I add movies to my Roulette list, from this kind of stuff.
Nuclear War... the fun Christmas topic... 🤣

@SiRrogueKnight @SirDudeNamedBenOnymous @EatKnitSleep2 Yeah, I don't like all doom-gloom stuff, but post-apocalyptic science fiction, sometimes horror, I find interesting. But I love many film genres. I love the Hughes films, I love Black and White roaring 20's films, Christmas films, etc. But my step-dad watched a lot fo sci-fi, so did I. 80's Dr. Who, Stsr Trek, Star Wars, any B film he could get his hands on where the VHS box had an 'artist interpretation' of the film, we watched. LOL
