Yukon Liberals mandated all homes in Whistle Bend, the largest new subdivision ONLY be allowed to heat with electric, then were forced to buy multiple diesel and gas generators in the fallout yet STILL pushed EV's like retards

now the grid is failing and people are gonna freeze.

Officials are recommending folks unplug TV and toasters.

Nice earrings, btw, lmao

@PNS unplugging a toaster that is not in use conserves no energy.

@PNS I grew up in a neighborhood that was originally built in the 1960s. In the 80s there was an extension of a few streets. The old houses have gas heat, the new houses were all electric (resistive baseboards). The gas company didn’t even run lines. Today they all have propane tanks in the yard, despite being built as a higher end development.

We live in a place that gets really cold for a big chunk of the year. Now let’s run our cars that sit and operate outside in that cold on … batteries.🤦🤦🤦

Now let’s push everyone on to electric heat because fossil fuels bad. Now let’s generate that electricity with … giant fossil fuel generators.

We really love science…we just don’t understand it.

I like how we used to have paper cups and plastic straws, now we have plastic cups and paper straws.

I know a guy who had electric heat in his house. His monthly electric bill was almost $1000. He installed a propane furnace and the season cost as much as one month. He paid for the install with the difference immediately.

The hidden horror of life in Alberta is their total lack of hydroelectric. They have no forests to speak of. Their options for electricity are coal, LNG, oil or biomass.

People on the edge of affordability routinely have their electric service 'yoked' and throttled when behind on the exorbitant costs.

@sj_zero @ReadyKilowatt

Prolly one of the worst surveys I ever had to do: people in tears only able to use one burner on their stove because their electric is 400 bucks a month. I pay 70 every two months.

@sj_zero @ReadyKilowatt

That's what the smart meters are for. The old style they have to roll a truck to yoke ya.

I've been very consistent on this: Canada's greatest renewable resource is hydroelectric, and it's a resource we should be developing anywhere it's practical.

Living in Manitoba was pretty interesting because the hydroelectric meant the electricity was cheap enough you didn't really hurt if you were using electric to heat your home. Of course, we would need to stop importing a million people per year. At the end of the day you import all these people who need to not die of cold in the winter, eventually you're only option is fossil fuels.

@PNS @sj_zero @ReadyKilowatt

This house is from the 20’s and it was coal heat. Basically a chimney mass that was heated from the basement. Someone installed gas, but i was thinking of restoring the old coal box to burn wood, or even coal again, which is illegal in MA.

@magicalthinking @sj_zero @ReadyKilowatt

We had an old 30s house wit rads heated by a big oil furnace in the basement.

@Haleakalacrater @PNS All plugged in appliances draw some baseline of power. It's called vampire power drain.

Not if you put garlic in 'em!
