It's notable that the countries hosting WW2 ALL have gone insane in the interim and adopted ideologies detrimental to their cultures and people.
WW2 had a far greater effect on Europeans than anyone will admit.
They have been reminded of their WW2 solidarity and have been marshalled to operate against their own best interests ever since. Feminism, immigration, LGBT, Communism.
A collection of states populated by people with fractured identities.
Doesn't end there either. Japan still has to launch it's satellites "old school", presumably because they might make an ICBM on accident. But the jewish ethnostate *with a secret nuclear weapon program* can totally have guidance systems. 🤔
After WWI, you had trained killers who were feeling disconnected from the country and so in the US you got the bonus army, in Europe you got fascism and national socialism as well as armed revolutions elsewhere, leading to WWII.
The purpose of the postwar order was demobilizing after universal mobilization. Once the greatest generation aged out of wartime, the purpose had been fulfilled. Unfortunately, all the wise leaders aged out too and people just started thinking this insane system was supposed to exist forever, and that's suicidal over time. There just aren't enough resources to keep doing it for nothing.

@PNS
I'd argue that's not necessarily true. Since countries less effected by WW2 have also gone insane. There's something else going on.
Well they sold immigration to North Americans as a stopgap method of stalling the birth rate decline.
They just accused any European they were saviors and if they dissented they were Hitler's own echo if they didn't open their borders. Nations like Poland and Hungary were mocked and accused of Nazism.
The sales pitches differed.
I disagree only in that the Boomer stopgap was pitched in Europe because they love their cradle-to-grave welfare.
The problem was always socialism.
