The UK has warned Donald Trump that his threat to impose tariffs over Greenland risks a “dangerous downward spiral” in transatlantic relations.
Britain, alongside seven Nato allies, issued the warning in a joint statement that also expressed solidarity with Denmark.
The US president said he would impose a 10 per cent levy on exports from Britain, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden for sending troops to the Arctic island.
