Does "democracy" simply mean "the American way of life, the American Experiment?" And, why not just say that?: https://chrisa.org/2026/03/04/does-democracy-simply-mean-the.html

@chris The word "democracy" in the modern leftist vocabulary has no meaning. It is a made-up rhetorical MacGuffin used as a placeholder for the polar opposite of whatever it is that leftists hate.

No screeching leftist will be able to tell you what "democracy" is, because they honestly don't know. They only know that it is good, and that it is in danger from the bad orange man (or whomever is their hate target du jour), and that it is absolutely critical to be seen "protecting" it in order to signal to the other members of their cult that they are virtuous.

"Democracy" is the system that uses consensus to validate the legitimacy of their power.

If it doesn't create a validation of the legitimacy of their power, suddenly "it isn't Democracy."

@threalist @chris When you cancel, silence, censor, or otherwise eject from the discussion everyone who doesn't hold your prefererred point of view, that's not consensus. It's groupthink.

@ryan That's my question: are modern pundits conflating a country filled with white christian people who are nationalist versus a party that wants a Racist Christian Theocracy. I am always afraid when people say: whiteness, Chritianess, and nationalist == WCN. I feel like that's a current "democracy is fragile" trick like when people conflate: refugee, immigrant, migrant, and illegal into being the same thing. It's trickery.

@threalist @ryan yeah man, that's what I am afraid of (he says as if he's surprised)

@ryan @threalist it's even worse than that. Groupthing suggests "emergency" to me, whereas when it's prescribed and prescriptive, it's even worse!

@chris I wouldn't spend too many brain cycles trying to understand the logical meaning behind leftist-defined terms. They tend to be long on connotation, and nearly devoid of denotation, befitting a group whose rhetoric is long on emotional reactions and nearly devoid of rationality.

I always assumed "christian nationalist" fit into this category. It's an information-free invective that can be wielded against thinking types who will be thrown off trying to parse what it means.

It means nothing. They just want you dead, on a deep emotional level.

@ryan that's true but my brain itches anyway.

they use the 'liberal version' they redefined it quietly like 'calculus'
to be something else

Laws in liberal democracies may limit certain freedoms. The common justification for these limits is that they are necessary to guarantee the existence of democracy, or the existence of the freedoms themselves. For example, democratic governments may impose restrictions on free speech, with examples including Holocaust denial and hate speech.

i know, i know, it's wiki and it has the same weight
as quoting a tv show, but it's what they use in collage and such for "eDUcAtioN" 🎶 words do matter 🎶

@seatree @chris Often I think these leftist redefinitions of terms come *after* the whitewashing of the original definition. "Democracy", "equality", "diversity", "hate", "recession", "vaccine". In each case, the original definition is inconvenient to their rhetoric, so they just claim it means the opposite for the sake of propaganda and lying.

Then, afterward, some woke self-appointed arbiter of language like Wikipedia or Merriam-Webster quietly updates their official definition as if it had always been that way. It's Gaslighting on a societal scale. And we keep falling for it whenever we use their terms.

"The Party told you to ignore
the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

@ryan @chris @seatree People self sensor and still think that pointing out hypocrisy gives them a higher moral ground. Its like respecting a human potatoe. There is no reasoning, only deep instilled feeling of insecurity/self hate and deep rooted drive to impose their moronic will on others. Their insignificance is to be ignored. I say what I want.

I say what I want, and i like what i say.
