@mcread No it can be recovered when you click on a remote post. The original copy on the servers have not been deleted if those servers still exist.
I just deleted my copy because I couldn’t afford to host last 5+ years of every post on every server my server tracks.
It isn't reasonable for every server to store every post forever. Without a "random" button that gives you a feed of older posts, most interactions are based on the past few days and hours, rather than weeks, let alone months and years..

@threalist @mcread Agreed. Unrelated: All my posts from my server still exist. None of them have been deleted. So you can see it as a remote post from your server even if your server deleted them.
@threalist @mcread @unabomber I don't really understand why they make copies indiscriminately, doesn't seem to scale well.
It makes sense to make copies of popular posts, especially ones with media (so it ends up working a bit like a torrent, the more people want it, the more copies there are).
