Seems like every AI advancement is a disincentive for the best of us to get better at what they do.

@threalist wait it out for these vibe coding guys to fail when it breaks and they can't fix it without real knowledge
@threalist I have never heard of any ai fixing itself when it breaks
@threalist @Mammal
LLMs are fundamentally pattern-matching machines initialized with all of human knowledge to pattern-match against. They can't create new knowledge; they don't even have any thinking capacity to recognize new knowledge if they did create it. LLMs create mediocre already-done content at an astonishing pace. They are the ultimate information parasite, consuming and rearranging human knowledge and information and presenting it in ways you think are novel because you personally have not seen it before.
Without humans in the mix, LLMs begin consuming their own output. This adds no new knowledge to the model; only entropy. Eventually the entropy will overwhelm the knowledge, and the model will cease to be useful. Companies that try to replace humans with AI are hastening this model collapse.
What we should be rooting for is new entrepreneuers to employ the best human engineers and take advantage of the human ingenuity and creativity to outcompete and displace the enshittified companies who think humans are interchangable with pattern matching algorithms.

@threalist It's a terrible scenario. Technology puts people out of work, but I'm hearing AI makes a lot of mistakes in this capacity and should be a last resort, not a replacement for humans. Boards of Directors only think "profit." I would think the opportunity for abuse is high, and once big tech is finished playing, resources will have run out. China is all in, too, with its AI agenda. Imo, it's why we're going to the Moon, to mine it.
