Somebody please go find out why Republicans voted against #Massie. I really can't understand it unless they still just love Trump blindly or were tricked by the advertising. He's like a perfect Republican with integrity.
"tricked by the advertising"
from the party that wants to sterilize all of our kids and import the third world.
@wjmaggos try to start a hell thread again with me and I'll block you.
"Most spent ever on a primary". His supporters didn't vote because of SMS abuse, would be my guess.
Sorry. I'll remove you. But the money/texts mostly came from his opposition.
@wjmaggos Does KY use electronic voting machines for primaries?

I'm seeing comments that this was the most spent in American history for a house seat.
Also, baby boomers voted for the Trump candidate.
@threalist @ryan @billybon3s @eriner @klaatu
yes I know the spending was record breaking but what kind of ad can even be effective re Massie unless you're completely ignorant re who he is or willing to do whatever Trump says. And if you're that out of the loop, how does somebody get you to vote in a primary?
apparently they do the larping thing where its a 'paper ballot' but its scanned into a machine, making it easy to swap a few votes here and there to give the outcome needed
did the kike shill get like a barely believable margin?
and all i can say about why republicans supported this guy, because they do have a closed primary system, is that they are still under the illusion that they should care about israel, i dunno what the local propaganda tv spots were like
good to know that some on the right think Republicans cheat too. we can all go back to equal opportunity blaming election losses on shit we can't prove done by people we can call evil and then don't need to try to understand.
Maybe that's the simplest explanation of what happened.

@wjmaggos do we know that no opponent sent SMS spam claiming to be Massie?
I haven't seen that claimed either tho. If you're not voting because of that when what you're claiming might have happened can so easily be done, the voter is an idiot.
@wjmaggos I blame the entire political system for SMS abuse, not just the party that sent it. I also haven't got much confidence in the system overall. As an unaffiliated voter in New Jersey I'm not allowed to vote in primaries.
Plenty of possible reasons I wouldn't have voted if I lived in Massie's district. I don't know if unaffiliated voters can vote in a primary there. I don't know why he lost.
maybe that's it, something to do with his independence vs the need to be a registered Republican to vote in their primary. the duopoly sucks.
@wjmaggos had I voted, I for sure would have voted for "being against Israel is not antisemitism." It's unbelievable that USA is participating in a genocide.
Why am I tagged on this? I see three possible explanations:
- You think Iβm a Republican
- You think Iβm in Kentucky
- You think Iβm omniscient
Iβm leaning toward number three as the most likely.
@ryan @billybon3s @eriner @klaatu
I've had decent conversations with all the people I've tagged (maybe only once and otherwise they've been bad) and they've had some insight into the more right worldview that I lack.
I have no special insight into this situation. My intuition is that it's maybe 15% due to Trump's cult of personality, and 80% the effect of a ridiculous amount of money being injected into the election, because it works on low-information voters.
People have been trying to fix the problem of money in politics for centuries, without much success, probably because the underlying cause is that we invite people to vote who have zero information, zero interest in educating themselves, and are often too stupid to understand the implications of their choice. That's what a Democracy is. Rule by the Least Common Denominator.
(The last five percent I reserve for counting room shenanigans)
@realcaseyrollins @ryan @wjmaggos @billybon3s @eriner @klaatu @threalist
Massy made the perfect the enemy of the good. he voted against bills that did a lot to usher in MAGA because there was something in them he didn't like.There is a reason he got so much funding from democrats. When it really mattered, he voted with them. When it didn't matter much, he voted with republicans. (sadly most legislation doesn't matter much).
If he had gotten his way, deportations would have all but shut down.
> he voted against bills because there was something in them he didn't like
Imagine if more Congresspeople voted this way. Imagine how much less pork and fraud would make its way into these 10,000 page bills.
Maybe the problem isn't one person voting what he thinks is best for his constituency. Maybe the problem is the other 434 voting the way their party's hivemind demands.
@ryan @wjmaggos @billybon3s @eriner @klaatu @threalist @realcaseyrollins
Go examine his actual voting record (ignoring what he says about it) and make a list of all the things that wouldn't have passed if everything went the way he voted. It would be a near disaster and only serve to empower the commies.
God forbid we eliminate 350 billion in progressive funding in exchange for 50 billion in funding he doesn't like.
My comment was suggesting a hypothetical scenario in which we would all be better off if everybody in the dilemma chose "defend". Yours is basically saying "The commies will stab us in the back, so we should stab them first." Sadly, that attitude is more likely to win in the short term, but it's a slippery slope that ends up sacrificing a part of your soul, and eventually the country.
@wjmaggos @threalist @realcaseyrollins
@ryan @wjmaggos @threalist @realcaseyrollins
eliminating their funding isn't stabbing them in the back, it's what is supposed to happen when the other side is voted in. Of course as long as there are people like Massy, then it will only go in one direction, because he won't take a win if it isn't pretty enough.
> it's what is supposed to happen when the other side is voted in
Nothing is "supposed to" happen when the other side is voted in. Republicans and Democrats aren't in the Constitution. They are the stable equilibrium in our first-past-the-post voting system. Plurality voting has the advantage of being easy to understand and administer, but the disadvantage that it inevitably leads to a two-party system. None of this was intended. Nobody ever asked for a permanent "us versus them" dichotomy.
Every conflict that divides 50% along party lines was specifically engineered that way, by people who have something to gain by the nation being divided.
@wjmaggos I happen to be working in Northern Kentucky right now. The TV ads against Massie were never ending and blatantly false. TV viewer demographic, most likely to vote, was conned.

Every hear of the feirce debate between the Federalists and the anti federalists over the writing of the constitution? There are always going to be differing views and always have been. Why did the founders engineer such a division, over whether the federal government or states should be stronger?
@threalist @ryan @wjmaggos @billybon3s @klaatu the electric Jew has all the olds on strings.
This was very obviously sending a message about what happens when you go against them.
Did people really believe he was going to be allowed to continue after what he did? They control every channel on every TV in every room of the nursing homes full of retarded drugged-up white women.
They didn't. They could not have been more explicit with the 10th amendment:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
But people wanted more power, so they did it anyway
@threalist @ryan @wjmaggos @realcaseyrollins
There was a feirce debate over how much power federal government vs the states should have. There were many many pamplets published at the time and many compromises had to be ironed out. The point being political disagreement has been part of the US since the very beginning and doesn't have to be manufactured.
The point was made that such conflicts are engineered, this proves that point unlikely.
@Jonny @eriner
Advertising money winning elections isn't something new. I think it is easy to overlook that most people out there do no commit the time to properly vet and research politics. Bombard them with ads right before they have to vote and that's all the information they will use. I seem to recall a kerfuffle around $250k in FB ads a few years ago that supposedly cost someone an election.
When the actual election comes around, they start paying attention, but it's too late by then.

I caught some news show off NewPipe's trending & the cover reason pushed seems to be by never voting he basically RINO'd himself & might as well been a Dem so better to put a party follower in that seat instead (outcome of criticizing those who are not to be named).
