Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

@hourmutt Does liberalism really say that violence is evil and lack of violence is good?

You can completely end violence by having the world's most authoritarian state. The moment anyone looks like they're even thinking of violence you just have them executed. After a high level of violence at first, the violence will be nearly 0, but people will be on an incredibly short leash. This sounds like the opposite of liberalism to me.

@jeffcliff @becassine And the religious left too.

Puritanical authoritarians come in many flavors.

@Terry @nobullyplz @11112011 @Corydoras @GhostOfMoshe @Heliodramus @JoeBiden @Noraweed @Oblivia @Prodigal @RobinWils @ThreeOneThreeChris @Zerglingman @basadeskaiser @beardalaxy @colonelj @creamqueen @georgia @jasonl8446 @mar77i @mguw @mguy3790 @oxblood @p @sjw @thebitchisback @thedonnerd And everyone "knew" that the way to succeed is to get a college education -- any college education -- and they wanted to do the right thing so they made it really easy to get into a college education. They made it so people could take out all kinds of debt to go to school even if they couldn't afford it with the idea being that they'd make more money and be able to pay it off and be better off.

At the same time, everyone "knew" that the way to succeed is to own your own home, and they wanted to do the right thing so they made it really easy to get into a mortgage and into a home. They made it so people could get all kinds of debt to own a home even if they couldn't afford it with the idea being that they'd be more stable and be better off and more able to pay it off and be better off.

Nothing has changed, except now the people getting cheap loans also want the people who didn't go to college to pay off the loans, and they don't know why education and housing are so expensive. To this day you still hear the largest demographic at the moment saying that home ownership is a right and we need to make it easier to own a home. The thing is, the boomers aren't the largest demographic anymore. We are.

Anyone who thinks the millennials don't believe in "Fuck you got mine" hasn't met one.

@mguw @11112011 @Corydoras @GhostOfMoshe @Heliodramus @JoeBiden @Noraweed @Oblivia @Prodigal @RobinWils @Terry @ThreeOneThreeChris @Zerglingman @basadeskaiser @beardalaxy @colonelj @creamqueen @georgia @jasonl8446 @mar77i @mguy3790 @oxblood @p @sjw @thebitchisback @thedonnerd Most individuals aren't the aggregate, but the collectivists among us would blame an entire group for the actions of a minority, just like you did with the boomers.

@mguw @11112011 @Corydoras @GhostOfMoshe @Heliodramus @JoeBiden @Noraweed @Oblivia @Prodigal @RobinWils @Terry @ThreeOneThreeChris @Zerglingman @basadeskaiser @beardalaxy @colonelj @creamqueen @georgia @jasonl8446 @mar77i @mguy3790 @oxblood @p @sjw @thebitchisback @thedonnerd I think you got to be really careful, because we are exactly the same as an aggregate. We are literally selling the next couple of generations into debt-slavery, and calling anyone who doesn't cheer it on Satan. We are the ones in the streets burning cities to the ground. We are the ones making lists of people we hate so that we can destroy them.

We're no different. We are just as evil, just as selfish, and just like the boomers we wrap it in a veneer of self-righteousness.

@FediFollows @stux

I believe there are protocols where no rule enforcement is practical such as newsgroups to which are largely unmoderated.

Otoh, I think usenet proves your point.

@thendrix it all starts with saying "I'll make it pretty later" once.

@alex I've looked through documentation and through my installation and I just can't seem to find it: Where exactly can I find themes.scss or equivalent style sheets in my soapbox install? There's a number of elements I'd like to customize to make the site look exactly the way I want it (namely a black theme that uses as much screen real-estate as possible)

Running soapbox-fe and soapbox-be now. Looks good, but I'll have to mess with it to get it to look the way I want

@djsumdog @Bradley_JF I wonder if this version will be the one that lets you set an IP address from the settings app?

@alex I'm upgrading to soapbox right now. Two thumbs up for the great instructions on upgrading on the soapbox website!

@FBICatgirl @kala_ @MischievousTomato If only there was some sort of way you could have your own poast that works by your own rules.

But that's crazy, you'd need some sort of system that lets you get posts from users you like from a different server. That would be so cool, but it's just impossible.

@TurboNormie After a day or two probably not, but after 150 days of destroying predominantly black communities? It's morally wrong not to stop them. It wouldn't take too many people with bullet wounds to stop the riots, and then a reasonable discussion could have taken place.

If black people want to know how much Democrats care about them, they should ask why destroying predominantly black communities for 150 days was considered ok.

@Zennblack Of course you'd say that as a Black woman.

Anyone who advocates that governments run up debts is a slaver of the worst kind.

Imagine for a second if a parent took out a massive debt in their child's name in order to pay their own bills and buy nice things for themselves. A debt so large that it could never be paid down, a debt so large it would have to be passed down for generations. Would we think that parent a paragon? No. We would think that parent a monster who effectively sold their child into slavery.

Government debt is no different. We're taking out a loan that we have no intention to pay back, on the assumption that future generations will deal with it.

Every group that's alive that advocates for government debt has their sob story. "Oh, the poor!" "Oh, the races!" "Oh, the genders!" Well, the one group with no ability to lobby for itself is the unborn children who have to pay for the sob stories these people bring forth. They are being sold into slavery before they even exist, and nobody is treating it like what it is.

It might not seem important right now while interest rates are at the lowest point in history, but ask a boomer about how wonderful it was to live through the 1970s. Incredibly high taxes, incredibly high inflation, and no government programs. It will be worse this time, and that's the future we're making for our children's children.

Every time someone cries about government spending that isn't happening, remember what they're really crying about is the fact that we haven't sold our grandchildren into slavery quite enough yet, and there's still a future to pillage.

"You'll own nothing and you'll be happy"

They're starting with your digital world. They want you using services, not running them. That's why I have moved most of my services to self hosted ones such as the fediverse. You know what? You'd never think that you'd be happier having a nextcloud instead of a google drive, but I am. You'd never think you'd be happier having mp3s you've bought and paid for streaming from a subsonic server, but I am. You'd never think you'd be happier having video files of your DVDs available to stream on your own server, but I am. You'd never think you'd be happier hosting your videos on peertube or discussing on pleroma or having your community on lotide, but you know what? I'm happier this way.

I don't need to ask permission, it's mine to do with as I please. That's amazing.

@LouisConde 3/10 would buy 10

@Eris many websites have rss feeds including comic websites, news websites, blogs, and so on. I limit the number of feeds in my rss reader because otherwise you end up drowning in content.

@Eris friendica supports rss integration, which means that your fedi becomes everything else too.

Unfortunately pleroma doesn't support it so I've got my nextcloud set up to gather feeds for me.
