Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

🤔 But I thought if they got everything they wanted that the rich weren't supposed to get richer?

Don't tell me socialism is a lie?!

@TheAncestor This comic reminds me of certain people for whom "women aren't trophies" but magically always seem to come back to insulting people for not achieving sex.

@tpostmillennial "It's your personal choice but we will take away your life if you don't"

@zerohedge Of course not.

Global markets mean that even if there's enough supply right here, you might not be able to make use of those supplies because a customer in the UK has already purchased it because it's cheaper to ship across the ocean than to buy locally.

I get a kick out of the fact that "Let's go Brandon" is the "boourns" of real life.

It's become a meme of fake news

@zerohedge fucking this!!!!

Climate change has nothing on sovereign debt.

@intengineering absolutely true.

You can think something is the right move without forcing it into someone's arm under the barrel of a gun!

@sizzletron just 15 politicians in the volcano to stop the spread!

@sizzletron wtf... Netflix is starting to get off my shitlist. If they make stuff I hate but stand up for making stuff I like, that's ok by me...

@mcduquesne @Samhydeigger do you have a sauce? I remember reading about this but I haven't been able to find a sauce.

@DK_Dharmaraj @disclosetv Up here we have a party called the People's Party of Canada. The party is about making the federal government much smaller, balancing the federal budget, following the constitution, and a lot of good things in the vein of reducing the amount of stuff the federal government does and letting the provinces take up the slack. They got about 1% of the popular vote in their first election, and about 5% in the last election.

Lots of people tell me the guy who started the party is a grifter and the party won't be any different than any of the others, but even if it's true it doesn't matter -- Someone bringing freedom to the discussion is a net win compared to everyone else arguing over the specific type of authoritarianism they're going to implement. In the same way, I think Abbott putting this on the table is important regardless of the particulars.

@DK_Dharmaraj @RowdyRamzan @disclosetv I love the historical parallel. Thanks for that.

@disclosetv What the hell is this? A government protecting people's basic human rights? Doesn't he realize that he's supposed to be forcing decisions on people whether they like it or not?!

@Jkid I know they don't come in, you know they don't come in.

The owner of Kitchen Comic Con showed incredible bravery in standing up to the cancel culture mob, and you know what happened? Their best convention numbers EVER. Because these people don't participate. I'm happy I made the substantial journey to attend.

That's why we need to have people just doing their own thing and ignoring the mob because the mob doesn't do anything positive for your event or your book or whatever, it's the fans. #forthefans

@Jkid The very specific (and broad) institutional monoculture you're talking about is really an odd one, if you think about it. Basically, their stances are totally fluid, absolutely internally inconsistent, but regardless intensely intolerant of dissent.

12 months ago, the vaccine was "The Trump vaccine I'd never take omg I'd die". Today it's "The Fauci vaccine and why haven't you taken it yet?". My favorite example is #stopasianhate when the institutional monoculture explicitly considers asians to be white the same as they now consider latinos to be white except when it's convenient for them not to be. They pretend to be anti-establishment while also supporting every single one of the most powerful establishment organizations on the planet. The status of any given stance relies almost exclusively on who holds the stance. The annihilation of civil liberties around the world in the name of COVID is just one part of the whole thing.

I don't think you can be of any political orientation and legitimately hold the views of the monoculture. It's a false ideology maintained by megacorps because it's useful to divide us in the electorate and in the workplace. The cancel karens are useful idiots enforcing it.

I compare it to the religious right of my formative years. It was useful in some ways to people in power, and those people used it up and tossed it away the moment it stopped being useful.

I've come to realize I'm a social libertarian. I don't really care what people do with their lives whether it's being traditional WASP straight out of the 50s or being an atheistic genderfluid polyamorist, but the moment you try to grab the gun of government or other institutional power and aim it at someone you disagree with, that's where my tolerance ends.

These cons aren't all doing the exact same thing because they're scared of COVID, they're doing it because they're scared of the cancel culture mob.

@Jkid Nobody is going to save us. The only ones who can save us are ourselves.

And when I say "us", I don't mean "conservatives" necessarily. I went to Kitchener Comic Con before the world ended, and even though it nearly got the convention cancelled by cancel karens, they invited a bunch of different kinds of guests including Vic Mignogna and @RekietaLaw and it was really cool because there was a variety of people diverse in viewpoints as well as the things you'd typically consider "diverse".

I think there's people all across the political spectrum who would rather leave that monoculture alone. We'll have to be strong to not get cancelled, but I think it's the only way to save culture and keep having cool stuff of our own.

@parker @shitpisscum @alyx @ew My favorite part of this image is that he kicked one of said women out of the party for not kneeling to his demands.
