@zerohedge gold man sacks probably isn't a company you want to trust to tell you the truth. They're a company that will tell you what works for them to make a lot of money.
Even if it's fully true, that doesn't mean it's the full story.

@11112011 The crash will be epic.
@selea @Jo @thomasfuchs I put dd-wrt on a wrt54g, it works as a wireless gateway for my wired printer because I don't feel like running cables all over the world just to run a printer. I think it takes 9v power so you could just buy a 9v battery to barrel jack and plug it in.
It's ok, but unless you find a dd-wrt compatible router cheap it's probably worthwhile finding a different solution since it's a bit janky.

@maximebernier People are still being distracted by the "we should bring in slightly fewer immigrants" distraction, but as the party grows, more people will see the message of freedom, smaller federal government, giving more power to the provinces, and facilitating inter-provincial trade. I think there's huge room to grow, and part of that is running the party by principles rather than by polls.
@ggreenwald @mtaibbi Democrats are the new Republicans. Change my mind.
@parker @MercurialBlack Matrix, and in particular Matrix Clients, seem to be "There".
One server recently hit beta called Matrix Conduit. It's based solely on the documented standard and not on any previous synapse or dendrite code. Mine is running my homeserver on an Intel Atom, which was impossible on Matrix Synapse.

@aral I think that is something that can be the next big thing.
I've got a NAS that has a bunch of pacakages you can install including nextcloud. It doesn't include what I think you'd need, but something like what you're talking about would be perfect -- it's a big change in looking at the world realizing that our Internet connections are 2-way.
Best of luck to you on that!

@coolboymew @SpudsRudeEye Vancouver is an even dumber place to have an office than Toronto.
It isn't sexy, but if you need an office in Canada, Winnipeg is in the center of the english speaking part of the country and your workers won't need a seven figure salary just to afford basic living expenses.
And I hate Winnipeg, but I'm not stupid enough to want my people somewhere that a single family home is over 2 million dollars!

@coolboymew Should have done it long ago.
Forget the woke part, why the hell would you want your employees living in the two most expensive jurisdictions on earth? It's like "You know what I really want? To spend a lot of money on nothing in particular!"

@coolboymew Kill meeeee! Kill meeeeeeeee!
@intengineering This guy couldn't make windows stable for 20 years and his company still can't produce a settings app that will successfully set a bloody IP address after 10 years of trying, and you want to give him control over the bloody sun?!
@p I knew I smelled the French. This is all their plot!
@p @graf @CumskinFoidPuncher69420 @sjw pay no attention to these gentlemen, but I'm advertising for new DM groups for racism, biodiversity, and whatever else the post said I sort of fell asleep half way through.
Not a earthshattering harvest this year, but I'm pretty happy with getting some veggies out of my garden this year, especially since I started about 75% into the growing season

@aral I believe every household should have a server, and for most services you'd access your own server from anywhere rather than someone else's. In a world where governments and big tech believe censorship is their right and duty, we have no choice but to own the infrastructure together.
@wjmaggos @neanderthalsnavel They certainly can be.
Look at a lot of industry, governments bend over backwards paying for things with other people's money to accommodate industry. One mine got the government to pay for millions of dollars of fiber optic cable run for hundreds of kilometers. Another got the government to pay for all kinds of power lines. One mill got effectively free power. This happens all the time. You can say "That's not a handout!" but I don't know what else you'd call it -- Infrastructure built and managed to the middle of nowhere so some company can do what they want. After the mine or the mill closes, the road either must be maintained forever or decommissioned.

@bot @HenrynFren @becassine Fjord's Theorem: “people online tend to stay online, and people in real life tend to stay in real life”
@Shameless old man rock
@marshtackyball Sad but true. It's nationalization of all property.
