Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

I do think you're right to an extent. That's definitely a big part of it.

It's sort of sad, but the housing crash that's in progress right now caused by increases in interest rates is going to be the best thing for the ability of ordinary people to buy houses...

You take what you get.

The only fetish these women can get is not giving men boners.

Google chat shows that Google has lost its way.

It sucks shit. It's terrible. We all lost a bunch of good features and gained nothing.

I suspect it is, but there could be some fuckery I don't know about.

Officially, the population is stable in my region, yet you can't buy a house. Is the actual official population correct, or is something wrong with the measurement?

holy shit... Most deaths being vaxxed people I'd believe is a statistical fluke since most people are vaxxed.

But most people are NOT triple vaxxed.

I guess it could be selection bias, the people who get vaccinated again and again are the people who are more likely to have some sort of preexisting conditions that would predispose them towards dying of the vaxx?

This morning I was like "Man, gas prices are crazy. I should look into how much a Prius plug-in is!"

I decided gas prices aren't so crazy after all.

Oh, good point.

Yeah, I agree. I've always been anti-gun until a year or two ago when I suddenly became much more interested in owning one to defend my home and family...

That's just crazy talk.

I mean, the criminals already own their guns illegally and use their guns illegally, but more laws is definitely the answer.

Don't make 'em like this anymore! (Though I remember some anime that looked like this being pretty good)

A lawyer I follow on youtube made that point long before now: the supposed constitutional right talked about in Roe apparently referred to one and only one thing: Abortion. The moment that you're talking about literally any other medical procedure, that supposed right evaporates.

If that wasn't so narrowly tailored, perhaps it would still be around.

The problem is that if you apply the Roe standard to other medical practices, that would upend the entire medical bureaucracy. The government would be affected, but also the medical industry, which relies on the artificial barriers to entry. Imagine if just anyone could use the out of patent method of producing insulin -- why, people wouldn't need to go deeply into debt just to get insulin!

Sort of shocking that an iphone is still so incredibly similar to the first ipod touch I owned.

Reading these in his nearly incomprehensible accent is even better lol

I wish! Just imagine how things could be if educational institutions were working for the parents instead of the state!

If here is the us, I think a lot of American companies believe the government and have been trying to hold off on raising prices thinking that things are going to get better.

Eventually they're going to realize that things are not getting better and they're going to start raising prices across the board. They aren't charities, they're not going to keep taking losses forever.

In some ways, this fixation on college is a cargo cult.

For those who don't know what a cargo cult is, after world war ii, there were a lot of indigenous tribes that saw the Americans come in with their airplanes and the great riches that they brought with them and they assumed that because the Americans were building these bases that the bases themselves brought prosperity. They went out of their way using Stone age technology to build surprisingly accurate replicas of American military bases, hoping that by replicating them they could reproduce the wealth that they saw within them. These were called cargo cults.

In a similar way, some people look at people who graduated from college and say "look, they went to college! If we go to college we will be successful too!"

Absolutely, going to colleges part of a lifetime strategy that can work, but as we are seeing with the growing College population that is basically unemployable, getting a university education is not an automatic ticket to the good life.

If you just mindlessly go to university, all you're going to do is run up a massive debt. Going to University needs to be part of a broader plan that is going to include at some point getting a job.

This cargo cult mentality is actually really dangerous because suddenly you've taken a whole bunch of people who don't know what they're doing, and you push them into becoming highly indebted, you push them into using years of their most productive years pursuing useless degrees, and all the time you're sitting there telling them that they're going to get out of University and they're going to go off and become a CEO. When they don't go off to become ceos, they get very upset. Justifiably so really, they did exactly what they were told to do, and the reward for doing exactly what they were told to do including taking out a lifetime worth of debt wasn't there.

No wonder there are generations of kids resenting their parents, and wanting to tear down society.

False dichotomies are one of the rhetorical fallacies we need to be careful of.

World war II taught us this well. Where you backing? The Nazis or the Russian communists?

Just because there appears to be a choice with two options does not mean that you are obliged to pick a side.

Language chances over time. Anyone who says differently is lying.

This is a kids book, not a porno.

My wife flat-out refused to get vaccinated during pregnancy and I love her for it. Our son is 7 months old now, he's beautiful.
