It's near perfect. Except for the lack of a headphone jack. Or a SD card slot. Or a removable battery. So it's far enough from perfect that it's not worth even considering.
That's a good point. I need to keep in mind that a shocking amount of our culture is directed by incredibly powerful and smart people who want to make sure their bread remains buttered.
It's been forever since I was on reddit since I don't have any use for a communications medium you can't communicate on, but last time I was there reddit gold just gave a few quality of life improvements for a month (Stuff like continuous scrolling on the mainpage), so every reddit gold you got was another month where those quality of life improvements were available to that user. Basically you can buy the premium features for yourself, or another person can tip you a month of the premium features.
Life where you just succeed at everything is a living death.
You get out there, you do what you think is the right thing, and sometimes you fail, but sometimes you succeed, and sometimes success takes a really long time and a lot of effort, but that's the only reason it's worth anything. Once the difficult task is done, reality is it's time to start looking at the horizon for the next goal, and you start striving again. That's life, if you're doing it right.
Then eventually you look back and go "Wow, I guess I did accomplish something, eh?" even though there's still so much beyond the horizon left to explore.

In the grand scheme of things, chopping things up by political party or by president or whatever is a great way of making sure nobody is responsible for anything.
I was watching a video about whether Biden was responsible for the inflation, and it made me realize how narrow a view you'd need to blame it all or not at all on him. It's a story going back at least to 1971 when Nixon ended gold convertibility and very much about the past 15 years since the great recession, and undoubtedly about the past 2 and a half years since the beginning of the pandemic, and it's about both political parties (and their counterparts around the world doing the same damn thing) because they've had basically the same policies in a lot of important ways.
But then you can just cut it off and go "Nope, new president last year, he's solely to blame" and move on to what you'll blame the next guy for...

"don't worry! The police are here to protect and serve, I'm sure they'll be right in and they won't do anything to stop help from arriving in a timely manner!"
If the west keeps on giving up on the so-called "rules-based order" they claim to care about, then they'll make it a lot easier.
"Oh, you said something we don't like this week, you can't use dollars anymore." Well that's that then, isn't it?

One thing that's stupid about the Californication of the world is that some issues are unique to California.
Water, for example, isn't something that needs to be conserved in a lot of places. It's a renewable resource. Let's say I take a long shower. The water is drawn out of the lake, then I use it, then it goes to the sewage treatment plant, where it is made safe, then it is returned to the lake.
It's a good example of a problem I talk about a lot. You've got people freaking out about conserving a renewable resource, and mounting solar panels in places that are winter 9 months a year. This isn't helping, it's just making you feel better.

It's sort of insane when you think about it, everyone works super hard, 2 income households, just so they can pay someone else to raise their kids with support of the state.
With insane policies like that, no wonder mental health problems are rampant! Raising your kids is one of the fundamental things that gives life meaning.

Should be careful of a slope of hope, common in big slides.
That being said, there's plenty of blame to go around, including Trump. Looking at the person in charge when the giant powderkeg finally blows misses the forest for the trees.

When you have something a lot of people want, you have to be very careful or you're going to get used. Anyone who had some success in their career quickly learns this. Suddenly you've got a few people who want to be your "best friend", and they all have some sob story about how the world is against them and woe be unto them.
That's pretty impressive they got him so fast. Too bad they can't convict a bunch of billionaire pedophiles they have a literal list of from a guy who ran something called pedophile island. That would be really impressive.
