Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

Fully agreed.

Trigun is one of my favorite animes of all time, and it has heavy christian themes. Fine, great. But that doesn't mean I want to watch some crappy Christian movie where the characters break out into sermons every 5 minutes during the time I want to be entertained.

Likewise, there are lots of good works with progressive themes, but they're good works first.

While it is true that "original contention", holy shit is that a bee? Wow oh no it's right there better look it's about to land on you (switches the paper) in conclusion, no the moon is not made out of cheese, idiot.

Geez sounds scary, multiple warnings of "oh no he didn't!"

A lot of people only know cherry picked bible passages. They know one bit of Leviticus, but they don't know that Leviticus is part of the Torah, one of the books of the Hebrew bible. They don't realize that Christianity is an extension of Judaism that had profound effects on the faith, including fundamentally changing the way earlier books need to be interpreted. They also don't realize that Islam is a third redefinition of Judaism, and unlike Christianity which modified but fundamentally accepted previous works, Islam believes their new prophet has provided them with an all new, all perfect, all overriding prophecy that must be directly, completely, and literally obeyed. Therefore people try to use Judaism or Christianity to convince Muslims on theological matters which doesn't work at all.

If you didn't realize these things, then you might think each faith is hypocritical because they don't all follow Judaism exactly, where each faith may have a common basis but fundamentally diverges thus leading to much different conclusions.

I must admit, it's only recently that I've come to understand my own ignorance of all 3 faiths. Thinking I'd learned everything there was to know through cultural osmosis, I've now been on a slow march down Dunning-Krueger hill.

"except me, of course. And Joe Biden. Pretty much everyone except orange man."

A review of reddit alternatives without mentioning lotide. Sad.

Protip: on June 20th, the cost for self-publishers using kindle desktop publishing services will increase. This is likely to cause an increase in book prices.

If you want to buy some dead trees off of Amazon, might want to consider doing it before then.

Some of their ideas are galaxy brained.

"Wow, poast is really bad! What can be done about it?"

"Moderate me harder, daddy!"

Cultists never recognize the damage of their own cult

Imagine being on that side of the wall they've built and thinking theyre backed up by logic.

Greta is literally a genocide advocate. If she gets exactly what she wants, immediate global genocide, starting with the poorest people on earth and moving up from there.

"Are you willing to commit genocide against the world's poorest people if it means there's a 50% chance your children die if you don't?" No. And that's a hill I'm willing to die on.

There's an entire genre of stories kinda like that. Often it's an otome fan who knows she's reincarnated as the villain because she doesn't want to be the villain and is fighting to avoid all the bad things that will happen, but I'm pretty sure there's some where she's the protagonist but all the endings to the game suck so she's trying to do something completely different.

I'd argue Tucker Carlson took his licks on Crossfire and that's what made him so popular and so hated.

Crossfire was a dumb gimmick show too, but later on he started telling truths you're not supposed to say.

If you're using those 3 people as examples, then you're not understanding my point, because in my view they all prove my point.

Sadly, Jon Stewart isn't capable of being 2008 Jon Stewart anymore. Once in a while it looks like maybe he's trying to act like 2008 Jon Stewart and tell the truth about something, but he gets pounded into the dirt by his (now) establishment hack colleagues.

Most people looking at a gimmick like naked news would assume it would quickly degenerate if it didn't already.

I feel like any sort of gimmick sort of distracts from the core mission and would be ultimately harmful. Clown news where a clown reads the news. Unicycle news where someone on a unicycle reads the news. Standing on head news where someone reads the news standing on their heads. Most of the trusted news sources tend to just call themselves by name and rely on the work they do to sell the work they do.

I didn't realize you were running the instance too. Wow.

Right now the professional suits are getting clobbered too.

Trust is a delicate thing. It isn't easy to earn, and it's easy to lose.

Gimmicks might get a sub for a month, but it isn't going to get anyone to come back.

I remember looking at nakednews back in the 2000s or so, and it was sort of crappy news and it was sort of crappy porn.

"The kids we raised are so unvirtuous! It's obviously not our fault!"

There's people being paid to do journalism today, but just like the old days of Walter Kronkite, it's about trust. That's where porn isn't compatible with news.

I wonder every day how SAP has a single customer.
