I always get a kick out of it seeing naive people who have just joined the fediverse proclaiming that defederation will make the defederated alone and miserable.
Meanwhile the defederated seem to have the most fun, being free of the need to walk on eggshells to please some puritan who has proclaimed themselves the moral authority for earth.

It seems to me like a universal failure. The schools and administrators and teachers failed, but it takes a village to fail to teach a child to read or do math.
That said, it sure seems like a failure on a scale that calls for drastic measures like firing everyone involved with education in the whole city...

Its impressive, a massive political faction whose core ask is genocide of humanity. That's why it's called a crisis now, to push people to act without thinking of the ramifications of what they ask for.
Its ok because they put a smiley face on it instead of an angry German guy with a funny moustache. That was the only problem with it apparently.
I was watching the beauty and the beast cartoon by Disney. One thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is the implications that the main character feels like she's too good for life in her hometown. It feels to me like having a generation raised on the idea that the life they were born into is beneath them is kind of dangerous. Of course aim high, but for many people it's a noble and meaningful life to grow up in your hometown, marry a local girl, get a job doing what your parents did, and raise some kids with good moral values imbued inside of them. Aim too high and you won't even achieve that because you're trying for something you can't do instead of something achievable. We were happy living such lives for millennia, and everyone walking away from common lives is not sustainable...
Huh. Turns out doing suicidal things for your organization leads to the destruction of your organization.

Just a few years ago, people were telling me we should take out more debt since money is so cheap.
So what's the prescription now?

Pemmican stew. Really interesting piece of history.
I feel like the story of the food we ate at different times is just as important as anything. It tells about the constraints of the era and what the people were up against. Were they cooking with fresh ingredients, or were they using year old preserved meat? Were they chomping on weevil infested hardtack along the road, or were they taking time to take our ingredients and turn them into something more palatable?
In many ways, the story of our food is the story of our history.

Spoilers for the best moments in anime
To me, some of the best moments in anime are Rozen Maiden Season 1 episode 11 where Nori bares her heart to Jun to get him to snap out of it, and Shield Hero where Raphtalia slaps the spear hero and declares her loyalty to Naofume, and Nicolas D. Wolfwood's death scene in the Trigun anime.
Here's the trigun video, the only one of the three that's tolerable in the dub. The other two are cringe af.

None of the things that really stuck with me were things like the angel arm or the next sweet anime powerup. It was these moments between people...

I dunno if anyone here is into it, but I just set up a minetest server at fbxl.net running mineclone2.
Nothing fancy or anything, but I wanted to host some game servers and that's one of the ones I think I'd like.

That looks like a distinction without a difference...
Like "oh, our brand is the annoyingly loud version of Harley Davidson" -- so it's just a Harley Davidson?

I've been happy with the last couple MSIs I bought. The last alienware I bought was.... it was fine.... I guess....
Sadly, even running android on the pinephone is an experience similar to my old galaxy s1. I'm glad we have it to help push the state of the art forward, but we really need a better hardware platform before we can even start to start considering daily driving linux on mobile.
But I'll say this: It's the next frontier, and when it starts to be even a little decent, I'm all-in.

tbf, apprenticeships are hard as fuck to get. You probably need to go to college to get your foot in the door.
Have to admit, you would have seen me with a mask in my car this morning.
But I'm sick with a chest infection and was on my way to the pharmacy.
