Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

We got these crappy toy cars from the dollar store, 6 of them for 3 dollars. Right out of the box there were big problems, the wheels kept popping out because the mounting system was really weak.

I started off with a simple design to hold it in place but I made some mistakes and had to cut out the existing wheel holders to make them fit which was not ideal. For my second attempt, I cut notches out so the existing wheel holders could stay, then I glued them in with gorilla glue.

The gorilla glue is kind of nasty stuff, got everywhere. I had to remove the axles from a couple. I was still able to because the undercarriage is still flexible enough that I can get them in and out intentionally, but they're not going anywhere by accident.

The one thing I'd do differently if I do it again is the glue is not an ideal way to do this. I would make it higher to press fit in with the top of the car instead.

From a purely money saving perspective, I'm more expensive than the cars, but it's a chance to combine making and keeping my boy happy and showing him that in this house we fix things instead of just throwing them away.

It shocks me sometimes that my 3d printer has a pile of dust on it, has barely printed in years, and will pop out whatever shape I request with basically no modifications or calibrations. Just "here's that strange shape you wanted to fix dollar store cars"

Turns out the greatest weapon against the reddit atheist was scripture all along.

"I'm the batman"

When you think about it, the threats to steal if people don't get their SNAP are kind of futile.

"Either we steal from everyone or we steal from someone" uh ok?

With so many things to hate in this world why would I choose myself? Asks Skeletor feeling especially hateful but not towards himself.

"Thanks for not doing crack this month, here's a cookie!"

You can also think of it as casting off a marketing expense. When people were getting rich working for these big tech companies, it's also a giant sign going "Wow they must be a really cool up and coming company, look at how great the wages and working conditions are!"

Thing is, most big tech companies are getting out of that phase. Now they're as big as they're gonna get, if they want to keep drawing investor dollars they need to start optimizing their capital, and to do that they need to ditch operating costs to drive up margins.

Seems like an easier thing to say than to do.

Even for creators who are sold on the fediverse like Jeff Geerling or Action Retro, you'd have to explain why they'd want to move from a free of charge platform that has hundreds of millions of MAUs which monetizes their videos to a platform they'd need to pay to maintain that costs bandwidth per view and has a few thousand (at best a few hundred thousand) MAUs.

Even if every 6-month average user of fediverse convinced half a channel to migrate that would potentially be a million channels on fediverse, but I tend to think it'd be a challenge for one in every thousand users on the fediverse to convince a YouTuber to post on peertube.

That's not gaslighting, that's just straight-up lying.

I heard about videos where people are like "if my food stamps don't come in I'm just stealing the damn food"

Thou shall not steal, and help worthy needy people if you can. Regardless, but I'm imagining in some regions the Walmart worker on food stamps going "f it, take more. Mine didn't come in either."

So what you're telling me is she definitely didn't ride the subway after 9/11 in her hijab?

I don't know how exactly he would run regardless how well his debate skills are with the albatross that is the state of California hanging around his neck.

I saw that BC is saying they'll buy ads next.

I feel like premiers should stay in their lane.

Consider the irony: "I have to buy a brand new computer because the people who make my operating system arbitrarily require a new microchip? Well forget that I'm buying a Mac"

4th architecture now?

Anyone interested in knowing a bit of trivia about publishing:

Right now, I've got 3 editions of Future Sepsis.

The e-book is about 5 bucks. The paperback is about 16 bucks. The hardcover is about 25 bucks.

The interesting thing is, the revenue from each book is about the same. The rest of the cost goes into printing costs.

I kind of feel like even if you win this one on the yes side, you might have lost big...

"Wait, you gambled on this?" "Yes, and I bet on you!" "But you gambled on it?"

Saddest thing is, Ford is the leader of the provincial conservatives. This is as far right as we get. 🤦‍♂️

Tbh for a company that size it's almost a rounding error.
