Can i go on a rant about how Americans have been conditioned by Hollywood to believe that losing is the path to victory?
How many Americans have been subconsciously trained by thousands of movies, that the hero will save the day, no matter how bad it gets, and all you have to do is literally stay in your seat and wait for the protagonist to win the day against unbelievable odds.
Hollywood teaches a lone hero, sometimes with a sidekick or two, will always and every single time win the day in the end.
And so we cheer. And we get excited when the "bad guy" comes out swinging, because that means our hero will finally set the record straight. Just like in the movies. Right?
Real life isnt Hollywood. Real life is gulags and midnight knocks on your door.
Maybe our culture needs more Greek tragedies in our theater.
Maybe that's what kept the Greeks vigilant.
