What even is the appeal of tumblr?

you can't even sort by new. and people turn off the comments? how are you supposed to form connections then?

Didn't it used to be a blogging site?

I think so. I never used it before when it first came out. But there are blogs yes, pages, memes. most of which have so many comments your response will just get lost in it. or people Turing off the comments so you can put any input at all I just don't see the appeal
