as for the cctlds, .st seems popular as of late, .to is very popular with piracy sites. a lot of historically censored sites like 8kun jumped ship to china, and generally for anything hosting related i'd point people in the direction of this thread https://kiwifarms.st/threads/nulls-tier-list-for-internet-services.129513/ , which atm only recommends .st and to a lesser extent dreamhost, and suggests dnspod for the actual dns.
and then of course theres this infographic that's been going around for some years, partially out of date
@feld And this question matters more.
@Economic_Hitman @jeffcliff I looked into that.
In our Terms of Service, we have this provision:
“1984 ehf. reserves the full and unconditional right to decide whether to terminate services to the Subscriber, with or without notice, if 1984 ehf. considers the materials stored by the Subscriber to be illegal, unethical or harmful.” > > - The 1984 team
In house we refer to this as the Nazi provision, because even if we are a freedom of speech host, we will not have the fruits of our labor used to spread racism, anti Semitism, instigation of violence or hatred. We have taken down multiple Nazi sites, Jihad sites, sites encouraging violence, terrorist sites and sites endorsing anti Semitism.
Good on them for taking down the sites endorsing violence, but I wonder what they define as racism and anti-Semitism 🤔
I know for sure that #Gab for hacked, I didn't hear anything about an #Epik hack. I prolly just wasn't paying attention tho lol
