I threw a power meter onto my empire of dirt tonight. I was wondering how much power all these sites burn.
80W at startup, 37W while running.
Slightly less than a kind of sad incandescent light bulb. About 40 dollars per year.

@sj_zero My dual CPUs are 50W idle each and then there's the rest of the hardware.
@Suiseiseki @sj_zero that's like a standard incandescent lightbulb
@Mamako @RedTechEngineer @sj_zero Coal - you need to keep shoveling kilo-tonnes of coal into the furnace.
Meanwhile you need only a few kg of fuel for nuclear power.
Unfortunately, current enrichment and power generation methods are absolutely proprietary, but if anyone wants to donate me a few hundred kilograms of natural uranium, I'll gladly setup GNU/Centrifuges and GNUclear reactor with 100% free software in the back yard.

@Suiseiseki @sj_zero @Mamako you'll have to ask the Canadians. They are way more lax with private use of radiological materials than the land of the free and europe.
