Jobs suck, and people don't seem to realize that's why they get paid to do it. Even playing video games -- there's a lot of days you don't want to grind StarCraft 2 for 17 hours every day but you need to do it because that's the job, or sometimes you don't want to stream with a bunch of ingrates because you're just not feeling it today but that's what pays the bills. Same with art. Most of the art you make is something you don't want to make, that's why they're paying you to make it.
@tchambers good article. Shame they'll start calling for the end of self-hosting the moment they learn of all the doubleplus wrongthink out there.
People don't realize they're advocating for slavery.
They don't want to work during COVID, but someone has to in order for everyone to survive. The miners need to keep pulling materials out of the earth, the farmers need to keep growing food, the drivers need to keep on transporting materials, the processors and manufacturers need to keep processing minerals or food, the wholesalers need to keep selling stuff wholesale and the supermarkets and restaurants need to keep running. If any step in this process doesn't happen, then everyone starves. People have been taking the risks of getting COVID non-stop the entire time in order to keep the world running.
So these "oh, covid is so scary" folks think they're entitled to the fruits of the labor of the people who have presumably been taking mortal risks to keep the world running for the past 2 years without doing anything themselves to earn it.
Slavery.
But don't worry, we're going to pay for it! How? By taking out debts we never intend to pay back that our kids and our grandkids and our great grandkids will have to deal with.
Child slavery.

@Awoo The fediverse is healthy confirmed.
Vaccine passports will stratify society into two classes of people: the Free and the Nazi Gestapo.
No, vaccinations have nothing to do with which class you're in.

@Dan @Sabex @DameLoveandLight @Roofus that would be hilarious, imagine having a bunch of middle class people begging outside the supermarket "will work for basic human rights"
@ImortisInglorian @Shadowman311 I had some Yerba mate from a reasonably reputable source, all I knew for sure is that it was terrible. That was shortly after I had to throw out an energy drink that claim to be filled with the stuff that was one of the worst things to drink that I've ever paid money for.
Some people think that not feeling pain would be a superpower, and it looks that way to start with. But people who can't feel pain end up in the hospital because they don't realize they just chewed up their cheeks, and they don't realize that they've broken their fingers, and they don't realize they've broken their legs. That's our economy right now.
@maximebernier HOLY SHIT this is the first time ever that I have seen a party actually suggest a monetary solution to an inflation problem!
Remember Canadians, you can vote for the only party worth considering, the PPC, next weekend at advance polling places. If you aren't voting PPC, advance polling stations are all at the bottom of deep lakes, you should be sure to wear your paper mask and bring your vaccine passport with you.
@11112011 "totalitarianism: having opinions different than what I consider acceptable"
@jeffcliff Not even during the pandemic. Long before that they set their priorities. I remember having a car accident in Winnipeg with a woman who was on blood thinners, and after 6 hours in the emergency room they said it was going to be at least another 4 hours, there was no pandemic going on, that's just how they ran. At that point, we left because if she was going to die she would have died already.
@jeffcliff it always had to be this way. ERs on the prairies were a hellscape before there was ever a virus. The decision to have overloaded ERs was made before any of this happened.

Anyone taking this at face value should buy some pristine beachfront property I have for sale on Florida.

@Shadowman311 every tiem
@Shadowman311 Yerba mate tastes like brewing the contents of an ashtray without any of the benefits. Anyone who pays for that experience is clearly a deviant.
That is all.
