Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

It's important I think to recognise that a lot of the crazy stuff out there may be earmarked by leftists, but it doesn't mean that leftism doesn't have good ideas.

Obviously according to der fuhrer I'm a racist sexist misogynistic homophobic transphobic American Russian Republican far right radical, but back in my day, trusting the world's largest corporations was considered a right wing proposition, and opposing the largest political ideology in the world that is supported by every establishment power on the planet would put you squarely in the left wing.

I'm open to trying new things, I tried a beyond meat burger once.

It's chickpeas. Just chickpeas. Tastes like chickpeas, feels like chickpeas, it was supremely disappointing.

If I want to buy chickpeas, I will. chickpeas are great! You can get them dried and store them for a long time in case you need them, and some people like them but I find them a bit meh, but if I want them I'll head to the veggie aisle and pay 3 bucks for all the chickpeas I'll ever want rather than head to the meat aisle and pay 15 bucks for some chickpeas marked as fake beef.

Universal healthcare isn't necessarily bad for population size. It really depends on how competent the authority running it is.

As I recall, the average pregnancy in a hospital costs something like 20k in the US. In Canada, there is no cost at the point of use unless you want a private room. If you're thinking about being a parent, which one of the two is going to be easier to swallow? That being said, universal healthcare requires competence. The US already spends enough federal money per capita to have universal healthcare using the money collected for medicare and medicaid, but despite having as much money as required, public healthcare in the US is not run competently, so there is no universal healthcare.

That being said, the rest of what you've written is correct. In particular, climate policy requires the earth's population to shrink massively. I came to that conclusion in my 2009 investigation into converting our industries to clean energy which I have reposted here: https://lotide.fbxl.net/posts/6006

One odd thing is that after fighting for a shrinking population, they get a shrinking population, and then they act like a shrinking population is a problem to be solved.

And no wonder! If businesses actually have to fight for workers (and right now we're not there -- look at the workforce participation rate, it's overwhelmingly high compared to the past), then workers start asking for stuff like higher wages and decent working conditions, and we can't have that.

The blackberry 10 OS was really interesting at the time because it did decent multitasking before Android got there.

I don't know about you guys, but I've found my reliance on apps has shrunk a lot. These days I've often got a browser open with most of my stuff, and I'll just flip to that browser.

Part of me thinks a big thing that needs to happen is an end to sovereign immunity. If individual politicians, bureaucrats, and police were personally responsible when people's human rights were violated to the extent that they open themselves up to jailtime if they really badly violate people's civil rights, suddenly they'd be a lot less likely to try. We regulate everything else that way, but not the people with the most power.

My experience has been that wireless chargers are generally convenient, not fast. Particularly after you put a case on your phone.

Incidentally, I've been impressed seeing the Lemmy/lotide side of the fediverse slowly growing, particularly on the libre side of things. Wolfballs has a slowly growing userbase and I'm starting to see stories posted with dozens of comments.

The overwhelming damage caused to the next generation cannot be understated, and more importantly it isn't over.

I've brought up a study several times that shows that children born during the pandemic can either have basically a standard iq, or they can be so badly damaged as to qualify as subhuman. In the study that I referenced, this has an effect of lowering the IQ of children from about 100 to about 79. Next, those same children are kept apart from others by the culture of fear, ensuring that they are less developed socially than children of 5 years ago. Baby formula shortages are already causing issues for some parents and have been for most of this year. The inflation that was inevitably caused by shutting down the world economy and giving everyone fistfuls of cash it's causing parents to have to make some very difficult decisions they will have long-term effects regarding the well-being of their children. The worst part hasn't even happened yet. Every piece of data that we have points to imminent famines caused by arrogant Central planners who think that they can print food.

Something that's sort of ironic about this is the undeniable fact that this absolutely will create a massive rift between the rich and the poor. Where is the rich can afford all the resources required to ensure that their children don't grow up damaged by the pandemics supposed panacea, the poor have to just sit back and take it. Thereby, you will end up creating two distinct classes of people: those who were able to spend their way out of the problems, and those who could not. Two parent households are the norm among the rich, and those households will be better off. Households that can afford a stay at home parent will be better off. Households that can afford to hunt down limited baby formula or pay premiums at high end stores or to have the mother breast feed continuously will be better off. Households with the resources to absorb inflation will be better off. Households with the means to acquire nutritious food during incoming famines will be better off.

We have no excuse to the children we are damaging.

There's something to be said for a good faith attempt to understand those you disagree with. At the very least it means you are actually disagreeing.

How does one measure such a thing?

I'd argue the fact that people believe it speaks to the loss in credibility the state has suffered due to their own actions.

I mean, you tell me that you can say with 100% certainty that the state didn't manufacture something, you given all of the fake stuff manufactured by the state just since the year 2000.

I'm sure we'll find those wmds any day now you know...

"We are once again having Tony Jay read Green Eggs and Ham to the children."

You're right! We have the technology! We can murder every man, woman, and child in the country! Covid shall never be allowed to win!

We should just nuke all our population centers then. Can't get covid if we're already dead!

Tbf it was 9 years.

But to be fair to russia, if a Russian was trying to smuggle drugs into the United states, what exactly would happen? Probably going to jail for a very long time.

It's sad that the artists who claim to be for the workers have never worked a day in their lives and have contempt and hate for the working class. :(

"be a net zero hero. Kill your family."

Sort of turns into a left-wing meme in the middle, but this is what they actually think...

My brother and I had set up a network using Windows 9x's direct cable connection, which would let you connect two computers with IP using a null modem cable. I'd dial into the internet, and he could use the Internet at the same time because I ran a proxy.
