The reason I'm worried is that things are only so decentralized. We rely on common services such as DNS or ISPs, and if the authoritarian press decides to they can break our toys shockingly easily. We've seen it.
If everyone follows the current laws of physics and doesn't do anything like try to repeal the law of gravity though, I agree -- The federated nature of everything ought to mean the people who don't like each other can be part of the same system without having to interact at all which is pretty cool.

Honestly, nice work.
I feel like the whole ethos may be so alien to the overwhelming majority of people you can lay it out like this and they still won't get it, but nobody can say you didn't try.

I'm definitely worried about the same. A lot of these blue checks are used to being in charge. I don't want them to come in and start making demands -- it's a decentralized system, we don't owe them anything.
They're the ones who created the authoritarian system they're fleeing because someone they don't like is in charge. If they want authoritarianism with someone they like in charge, they shouldn't bother leaving big tech.

tbh I think there's something iffy about amazon's business model.
Let's say you see my new design for magnetic meter leads and you want them, and I want to sell lots so I sell them for $2.
There's simply no way I could break even selling those $2 meter leads while spending 10 bucks to mail them to you and giving you free shipping.
I know "amazon prime", but there's no way that breaks even.

People ask me what the cloud is. I draw a picture where I draw a cloud and label it "not my problem".
Went on a trip with my wife recently, and she was like this packing, but I was the one worried when it came to stuff I percieve as important, such as getting to the airport early (because frequent flyers know you don't fuck with that)
Between the two of us, the trip went well.

11/10 for referring to tech.lgbt as "my gay little website"
In my view, you don't even need to be partisan to want this.
A hegemonic domination of politics by one force is almost always going to be a bad thing. Even if it's people you generally agree with, having the level of unaccountable power the left has in California inevitably means you've got a lazy and corrupt political establishment that knows it doesn't have to do what's right for the people.

He's the most visible, but I expect the same is happening to a lot of big tech folks who thought they could do anything without real consequence.
