Minetest with VoxeLibre (previously mineclone2) is a great FOSS alternative. One of the servers I run is a minetest server and it's really cool seeing what happens.
Part of the problem in the West is that the managerial class has us so thoroughly trained that we only look to them for meaningful challenges.
In reality, we are at a pivotal moment in the future of mankind: there is an inevitable global Mass depopulation event imminent, and those who take up the challenge are building the future of humanity right now: the managerial class is killing off all of its followers, and who will be left on this planet? Those who picked up that mantle, rejected the incentives of the managerial elites, and chose to have and raise children so they can go on to be successful in the empty World ahead of us.
Of course no one's going to tell you about that, they want you to die out.

Typical socialists, they don't want to create anything for themselves but they want to take everyone else's creations.
The late premodern period is somewhat faustian, we learned about the world to an extent never before paralleled, in return for our souls.
The modernist period was where the devil came to collect, and the postmodernist period is where we try to understand how to live without souls.
The next step logically must be a bargaining to get our souls back, and only by the grace of God can that happen. We won't be able to find our souls in lab measurements, we need to return to seeing ourselves as small pieces of an unfathomable universe which we have only a dim candle to see within.

Despite all the fanfare and the youtuber's name attached and all the marketing fireworks, it looks like a chocolate bar you'd pretend to be happy to get as a kid to be polite but it's like "Why didn't you get me a good one?"
We live in an authoritarian regime whose stated goal is the elimination of ICE vehicles by 2035[1]. Despite the fact that most of Canada isn't Toronto, Ottawa, or Vancouver, and many of the cities I talked about will become essentially impossible to travel to or from in February. The consequences for most of Canada will be cataclysmic, closing off a lot of cities and towns for months of the year.
#electrifycanada is what you said, and unfortunately those are the connotations of saying that. No projection required, just the cold hard reality of a state that considers most of the country not worthy of any consideration. Most of Canada is just colonial holdings a few cities in Canada can extract resources from and impose rules on.
Now, on the other hand, I will admit, maybe you weren't thinking of any of this. Maybe you just have this new EV and you like it and that's all you were saying, especially seeing other people happy with their purchase of similar new EVs. Well, in that case none of what I say applies, I wish you the best and apologize for misconstruing what you said. I'd like a low cost EV to put beside my ICE car for jetting around town, I could probably do 90% of my running around in something like that. I've been looking at an older Nissan Leaf, they're reaching that magical 10k price point that might be ok for a second vehicle that I can't do anything with but run around town, and I can lose that 10k as a failed gamble if it turns out the car really doesn't work after all even for running around town.
The key is the difference between having the option for electric and being mandated to use electric, and right now we're on track to unspeakable suffering for millions of people.

I posted about this a couple weeks ago, but finally had a chance to take a picture of it. This was from the local bulk store. It looks an awful lot like something they're trying to unload.

To me that's only a bombshell if you don't think Trump is telling the truth about what he's planning to do.
At first it will look like things are bad, but all of the resources that are freed up for the private sector are actually going to be a good thing, and companies in general are going to do better in the long run. Just look at Milei -- everyone was telling him he was insane and stupid right up until it worked.

I had a period where I was deeply interested in Nietzsche (and I don't think I really understood most of what he had to say even then), so my knowledge would be frozen in that time. It's quite possible the tumor hypothesis hadn't made it to books for dumbdumbs like me by then. Interesting to know that though.
I was under the impression that it was entirely uncontroversial that neurosyphilis is what ultimately sent Nietzsche to the asylum and ultimately killed him.
The idea that simcity, in which you are the all-powerful immortal god-king of your region, is libertarian is impressively nutty. You are literally the government and do basically have carte blanche to do whatever you like with no repercussions.
It's possible, but it's the only hope the country has left. If he's a blue tied Trudeau, then it'll probably be time to bail for a lot of people.
Canada used to be great. Within living memory.

I know Toronto and Ottawa consider themselves the center of the universe, but they are not, in fact, most of Canada. Spend a winter in Thompson, the Battlefords, Fort Mac, or some of the rest of most of Canada. You won't even wear a jacket in Ottawa's winter by comparison.
"We're not divisive, but you should keep secrets from your spouse because some old lady who probably banged weinstein for a job told you to"
If that's the photo she puts up as her facebook profile, who in their right mind would hire her? Someone trying to get the "before" shot in a skincare product ad?
"Oh, I could do both photos" "No you can't."

I've been watching hours of videos from teachers talking about this sort of thing. I've had and continue to have issues with some teachers, but education remains important, and I refuse to let my kid be illiterate because I was too soft on him and let him think it's ok to badger the teacher and ignore the fundamentals he's there to learn.
hopefully next year we defund the CCPBC and remove all the government subsidies from the other news companies. If they had to survive on their own, I'm pretty sure only Rebel News and True North would remain.
