The whole point of the United States was that it wasn't supposed to be a country with this massive federal government looming over everyone. That's something that changed a bit during the civil war but really changed in the past century.

It was supposed to be that your local state was where all the action was, and the federal government was just common defense and regulating interstate trade. Unfortunately, the one ring is too attractive for most to leave alone, and so the powers of the government grew and now it matters a whole lot who the president is because they regulate so much of your life.

That's a whoppin

The notion that there were “red states” and “blue states”—and that the former were Republican and the latter Democratic—wasn’t ingrained in the national psyche until 2000

Would be entertaining, but he's too good for that. Give him something more important.

You mean the insurrection guy? They voted for him?

They are saying Trump won FL by 10%

Can we get a follow-up on this story?

Aw yiss

Maybe the machine didn't show up to pump out votes for Harris because it didn't agree to the Biden coup.

> no matter what you do

You say that like Musk isn't working on tech for Mars colonies

Did anybody think Trump would win Virginia?

I'm not following.

They can't be counted by hand?

> why do you think they shouldn't have been?

"Cause he represents half the country" is a good starting point.

Another is that if you don't at least pretend to look into it, it will look like you aren't interested in the validity of the voting process and people will lose faith in the institution.

> if you don't put limits on claims, you're saying anyone can say anything

I can't find the number. Best I found was a fact check website substantiating a claim from Biden that most of Trump's lawsuits were dismissed without trial.

The President.

> rightwing media outlets have been sued and lost

Very transparent Democracy.

Can we talk about the absolute insanity, that a sitting US President raised concerns about election fraud, and rather than putting all the cards on the table, and showing Americans everything was on the level, they shut him down and called him names?

It boggles the mind.

They spent a trillion dollars, give or take, in Afghanistan, but putting resources into making sure elections are transparent is so much of a burden it will break the system?

Maybe the system is broken then, but people just don't see it without the transparency..
