Lebanon is a much different country than I thought it was, to be honest. Government debt is now the number one existential crisis facing most western Nations. 20 years ago most of these governments were in reasonably Good financial shape and so it wasn't that big of a deal running up debt for a few years, but that was 20 years ago.
